Effects of burying your emotions

Can you control your emotions?
The answer is 'NO'.It is not possible to control your emotions. But you can understand it and learn to live with it in peace.Usually people hide or bury their emotions in their heart.People do this by simply ignoring their emotion,by pretending that nothing has happened,or by trying to concentrate on other activities.Do you know that these emotions stays up in your muscles and ligaments? Every emotion you have has a physical change associated with it.

Effect of controlling your emotions

  • They go nowhere and stays with you.

  • If you keep emotions buried for a long period of time,it will lead to illness and an accelerated aging process.

  • Buried emotions create fatigue and depression.

  • When you have buried emotions, your behavior and reactions to events in the present moment are really reactions to past events as well as the present.

  • The more anyone tries to control their emotions the more they resist control, and the more frightened people eventually become at what is seen to be a “loss of emotional control".

  • It takes lot of energy to bury your emotions. So there's no energy left for other activities when you do that.

  • These buried emotions always tries to come out.So you also need to spend your energy to keep these emotions buried.

So make a deep commitment to yourself to become emotionally healthy and be willing to release your buried emotions. This is often an uncomfortable and difficult journey when you begin, but I promise you great joy once you have got over the first few hurdles. Once you make this commitment your journey to identify your issues and release buried emotions will become much easier.

Dealing with anger

What is anger?
Anger is a natural, usual human emotion which can be destructive to the person who expresses it and the person who receives it.It can even spoil your personal relationships.

Ways to deal with anger
There are three ways to deal your anger. They are

  1. Expressing
  2. Suppressing
  3. calming

Expressing
Expressing your anger can be done in two ways.one is the natural aggressive way.The other is non-aggressive way.Expressing your angry feelings in an assertive—not aggressive—manner is the healthiest way to express anger.

Suppressing
Anger can be suppressed, and then converted or redirected. This happens when you hold in your anger, stop thinking about it, and focus on something positive. The aim is to inhibit or suppress your anger and convert it into more constructive behavior. The danger in this type of response is that if it isn't allowed outward expression, your anger can turn inward—on yourself. Anger turned inward may cause hypertension, high blood pressure, or depression.

Unexpressed anger can create other problems. It can lead to pathological expressions of anger, such as passive-aggressive behavior (getting back at people indirectly, without telling them why, rather than confronting them head-on) or a personality that seems perpetually cynical and hostile. People who are constantly putting others down, criticizing everything, and making cynical comments haven't learned how to constructively express their anger. Not surprisingly, they aren't likely to have many successful relationships.

Calming
Finally, you can calm down inside. This means not just controlling your outward behavior, but also controlling your internal responses, taking steps to lower your heart rate, calm yourself down, and let the feelings subside.
