Emotion and Memory

Do Emotions helps us to remember?

Here are some facts

  • Emotionally charged events are easy for us to remember better than boring ones.
  • We remember events because of emotional arousal rather than the importance of incidents.
  • Postive memories contain more contextual details which aids in our memory.
  • Also it easy for you to remember when you are in a emotional state similar to that when you learnt about the information.
  • More pronounced is the effect on memory when more is the emotional arousal.
  • But we cannot simply say that anxiety impairs memory and happiness improves it.Different emotional states may impair or help memory, for different memory tasks.
